Edo State Government is collaborating with local and international automobile dealers to host Africa’s biggest car auction and expo in Benin City, the Edo State capital.

The Edo Car Auction 2022 (ECA 22) will serve as a platform to link buyers and sellers of automobiles across the globe, ensuring access to affordable and quality automobiles.

The car show and auction, according to the organizers, is scheduled to take place in April 2022, at the premises of Itohan Girls Grammar School in Benin City.

The Chief of Staff to the Edo State Governor, Hon. Osaigbovo Iyoha, who spoke to journalists after a meeting with the automobile dealers, at the Government House Benin City, said the government is committed to improving the livelihoods of citizens while ensuring an enabling environment where businesses can thrive.

According to him, “Edo State, today, is the hub of car business in the whole of South-south and South-east regions and this show presents a new vista of opportunities for car buyers and sellers in the regions.

“We are glad to be uniting the biggest automobile dealers across the world and our local car dealers in Benin City with car buyers and promoters to enhance access to quality and cheap cars through our forthcoming Edo Car Auction, which is well-positioned to become the biggest car auction and expo in Africa.

“We understand people’s growing passion to own a car amid the limitations caused by the increasing cost of acquiring an automobile in the country. This show will bridge that gap, ensuring a win-win situation for both buyers and sellers.”

Coordinator of ECA 22, Terry Prince Osemwingie said the event will serve as the biggest open market in Africa to buy and sell quality and affordable cars.

According to him, “This is not just for car dealers, but other citizens who have cars to sell. The show will bring together everyone in the automobile industry and other stakeholders to improve ways of guaranteeing interested buyers access to cars and other automobiles, without stress and fear of exploitation.”

Also on the entourage are ECA 22 Special Adviser, Sir Eghosa Andrew Edegbe; Secretary of Motor Dealers Association of Nigeria, Edo State chapter; Barr. Fidelis Okungbowa and ECA Legal Adviser and Assistant Secretary of Motor Dealers Association of Nigeria, Edo State Chapter, Mr. Paul Akhilomen, among others.
