The Ekuase family has raised an alarm about their sibling, Osarieme Charles Ekuase who they say have gone missing since September 18th 2015 after escaping abduction by Boko Haram terrorists who raided the residence at Zabarmari, in Borno State.

Addressing newsmen in Benin City, Mr. James Ekuase, who spoke on behalf of the family said that sometimes ago, they had information that after his narrow escape from Boko Haram, he was able to travel out of Nigeria to Brazil about the same period.

According to him even while in Brazil, their brother’s stay was cut short, as he was robbed and severally attacked while his life was being threatened by the dreaded criminal gang called milicianos.

He said that based on this sad development their brother was forced out of Brazil sometime in January 2021 for fear of his life and ever since they have not heard of him and do not know his whereabouts.

On why they were raising the alarm for an incident that took place seven years ago, Mr. Ekuase said that it has become necessary to warn their brother, if he is alive, that the Boko Haram terrorists were still on the lookout for him to kill him.

Speaking about his family, he said that they are all eight in number and born to the poor family of Mr. and Mrs. Ekuase Moses Okhoro of rural Alaba Oro, Ajegunle in Ifelodun local government area who could not afford their education.

He said that after they lost their father in June 1994, their blind mother, unable to cater for them, gave their brother, Osarieme Charles Ekuase {born in December 26, 1981} as a helper to one Mama Dora, a muslim woman.

“It was while with Mama Dora that Osarieme Charles Ekuase, who professed and protected his Christian faith, managed to go to school before he got a job as a truck assistant to one Jude Ede at Ajegunle market and worked with him from January 2012 to September 2015.

“This happened on the night of September 6, 2015 during their trip to Zabarmari rice market in Bornu State that Boko Haram kidnapped my brother because he is a Christian. They beat him mercilessly, blindfolded him, strangled him, seized his phone and cut his right hand with a machete. It was while bleeding that they left him in a room and he managed to escape”.

Mr James Ekuase added that the way and manner Osarieme Charles Ekuase was through mysterious means travelled out of Nigeria and arrived in Brazil on October 10,2015 was a miracle as he went on a cargo ship after his escape from Boko Haram’s den.

“He could not stay in Brazil because he could not speak or understand the Portuguese language and as he was a constant target of the gang millicianos, we learnt that he left the country around January 14,2021 and since then we don’t know what has happened to him. That is why we are afraid”.
