BENIN CITY – Confirming the robbery incidence, the Public Relations Officer for Edo State police command SP Kontongs Bello said four commercial banks were attacked by the robbers
He identified the banks as Zenith, Union, UBA and Firstbank all in Uromi town.
SP Kontongs further stated that eight persons including two police personnel and a madman were killed by the robbers.
The police spokesman gave details of the casualties as one female police personnel, a policeman, one civilian female and five males.
He said 12 others also hit by the bullets fired by the bank robbers are receiving medical attention at undisclosed hospital.
SP Kontongs added that four operational vehicles and two motorcycles abandoned by the gunmen have been recovered by police in Ubiaja.
The police mouthpiece explained that the armed robbers also attacked Uromi Police division with explosives.
