BENIN CITY- The Police authorities in Edo State, have declared a manhunt for one allegedly fleeing bisexual suspect, Francis Oriazowan who was said to have been granted conditional bail by the police.

Addressing journalists on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Edo State, Mr. Philip Aliyu Ogbadu, the Command Public Relations Officer, SP Bello Kontongs, said that the now at large Francis Oriazowan and his gay partner, Felix Oko, were caught and arrested for homosexuality act on February 14, 2020.

SP Knotongs, disclosed that “a cracked police team was later deployed to the suspect’s residence at Ikhueniro quarters Benin City where two other gay syndicates alleged to be Francis’ partners were arrested, while Francis could not be re-arrested as he was not at home as at the time the police stormed his house.

He further stated that the police are not going to relent in its efforts to arrest Francis Oriazowan to face the wrath of the law.

He, however, appealed to members of the public who may have useful information that could lead to the re-arrest of the wanted Francis Oriazowan to approach any security formation in the country, assuring that such information would be treated in strict confidentiality.

Homosexuality according to the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is a crime that
attracts 14 years jail term.

It will be recalled that former President Goodluck Jonathan had in March 2014, amongst others signed into law a bill that criminalises same-sex, homosexuality, gay marriage and other amorous relationship.

Homosexuality is also seen by society as a taboo and abominable act in his culture.

Meanwhile, as at the time of filling this report, the whereabout of Francis Oriazowan remain
unknown.
