BENIN CITY – The Edo State Government will, on Thursday, April 07, 2022, meet stakeholders, during a town-hall meeting, to review efforts at rehabilitating children beyond parental control, street children, professional beggars, survivors of gender-based violence, and drug addicts, among others.

The town-hall meeting tagged, ‘Welfare Enhancement and Sustainable Development in Edo State,’ is scheduled to take place at the New Festival Hall, Government House in Benin City, by 10 am prompt.

In a statement, Commissioner for Social Development and Gender issues, Hon. Mrs. Marie Omozele Edeko Esq. said the programme will also focus on issues of combating drug and substance abuse as well as cybercrime (yahoo-yahoo).

The statement reads: “The Edo State Government through the Ministry of Social Development and Gender Issues is organizing a one-day town-hall meeting tagged ‘Welfare Enhancement and Sustainable Development in Edo State.’

“The core discussion areas bother on Rehabilitation of Children beyond Parental Control, Street Children, Children in Conflict with the Law, Professional Beggars, Survivors of Gender-Based Violence, Drug Addicts, mentally ill, Care of the Elderly and Persons with Disability. Furthermore, it will focus on issues of combating drug and substance abuse as well as Cybercrime (Yahoo Yahoo Boys).”

“The aim of this meeting is to find lasting and sustainable solutions to these issues and to get the buy-ins of all relevant stakeholders,” Edeko noted.
