BENIN CITY- The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has assured of his administration’s commitment towards building a stronger synergy with the media, particularly the broadcasting stations in the state in view of ensuring a sustainable development in the state.

Governor obaseki gave the assurance at the official commissioning of the SUPER FM 88.1 Station in Benin City recently.

The Governor who was represented by the Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Barr Andrew Adaze Emwanta, described the event as epoch, promising to partner the station on the level of government activities across the state.

”Most people listen to television and radio stations because they want to know what government is doing for them”.

While acknowledging the station for its reportage, the governor said; “We want to assure that Edo State government will continue to work with your stations as we have being doing with others”.

Continuing, he said, ”broadcasting has gone digital and we have told the NBC(Nigeria Broadcasting Commission) that we want to also have our own Edo State Broadcasting Commission because the law allows us to do that”.

”Broadcasting is dynamic and we want to have our ESBC to regulate what we do so that our people will have the right to fully express themselves.

The governor used the occasion to condemn in its entirely the gruesome murder of the 25 years old student of Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto, Deborah Samuel, who was murdered in cold blood by fellow students.

Governor obaseki who called for the arrest and the persecution of the perpetrators, noted that Section 10 of the Nigerian constitution made the country a circular state, hence, the peoples right to fully express themselves religiously, just as he stressed that religious intolerance in the country must be stopped.

Earlier, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Super FM 88.9 Mrs. Yemi Akiwunmi, said that SUPER FM is the brainchild of KCC Communication, adding that the parent company was established in 2019 and duly registered as legal business entity in Nigeria.

She said : “As as today (Friday, May 13, 2022) there are three branches of SUPER FM Radio station in Nigeria, including SUPER FM 88.1 FM that we are officially commissioning here today.

“In the stable of KCC Communication, we also have SUPER 96.3 FM, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State and SUPER 93.3 FM, Port-Harcourt, Rivers State. By the grace of God, two more branches may join fast growing SUPER FM Radio family before the end of 2022.

“As SUPER FM continues to grow with new branched springing up across the country, we hacw a uniform Mission and Version Statements, Our corporate mission and vision statements reflect clearly that our motivation bus to better the individual and the entire human society.

While describing the event as a landmark, Mrs. Akinwumi, said through transmission, test and full commercial broadcast had been on for months, the event further added bold and significant ceremonial seal to the station’s presence and operations in the state.
