…as commissioner assures of govt willingness to partner communities

BENIN CITY – Edo state government has again restated it’s commitment towards the promotion and development of tourism sector in order to gain local and global recognition.

The state commissioner for Arts, Culture, Tourism and Diaspora Affairs, Prince Bamidele Obaitan made this known in Benin City when he received the delegation of Miami Business Trade Mission from Florida,United States of America.

Prince Obaitan who noted that Governor Godwin Obaseki has shown alot of commitment in making sure that the rich cultural heritage of Edo State are preserved and promoted for tourist attraction however told the Miami delegates that the establishment of Edo Museum for West African Arts( EMOWAA), by the state government will highlight, rediscover and preserve the rich history of West African Culture and heritage of the Benin Kingdom.

He also informed the visitors that the present administration of Governor Godwin Obaseki has earmarked culture and tourism as the thematic pillar of his government in order to meet global tourism trend.

On his part, the leader of the 40-man delegation and Honourable Commissioner Miami Business Trade Mission, Hon Jean Monestime said they were in Nigeria to discuss strategies for the expansion of aviation service and promotion of tourism between African continent and Miami.

Hon Monestime however noted that Edo state government would benefit from 3.2 billion dollars United State, Nigeria trade agreement investment annually in maritime, tourism and cultural investment in Edo state.

High point of the activities was the visit to lgun Bronze cast, National museum and chief Osemwengie Ebohon tourist centre where the delegates appreciated and adored the rich cultural artifacts of the Edo people.
