BENIN CITY- Edo State Internal Revenue Service (EIRS,) in a press release has informed of a planned Statewide Motor/Vehicle documentation compliance exercise within this month of June, 2022.

In the release made available to the Nigerian Observer Newspaper, the EIRS said, to ensure compliance,
it was collaborating with FRSC, VIOs, EDSTMA, Security Agencies and Transport Unions, at all private and commercial motor, tricycle and motorcycle parks to make sure motorists posses valid vehicle and driving documentations.

Documents expected to be possessed by motorists are a valid-
Vehicle license;
Driver’s license; Number Plate; Certificate of Road Worthiness;
Hackney Carriage and
Vehicle Insurance Cover.

Operators of private parks were also advised to provide a conducive environment to ensure the smooth process of the compliance exercise.

Also, motorists were assured of number plate availability at all EIRS’ Offices across the state and advised to stop patronizing touts or nongovernment officials.

The release warned that,”Motorists found to be in contravention shall be prosecuted in line with extant road traffic laws.”
