AUCHI – In a disturbing turn of events, 15-year-old Omogbai Fatayi from Auchi, Edo State, has become the subject of a law enforcement manhunt following a tragic incident that left his partner dead. The authorities are actively seeking Fatayi, who is currently on the run, facing potential legal repercussions under Nigeria’s laws against same-sex relationships.

The incident unfolded on the evening of June 15th, 2022, around 6:30 PM in a secluded location in Auchi,where Fatayi and his partner, Kelvin, were discovered by a group of local youths. In Nigeria, same-sex relationships are not only illegal but also socially stigmatized, making such encounters extremely perilous.

Described by Fatayi as a nightmarish ordeal, the encounter escalated quickly as the youths launched a violent assault on the couple, tragically resulting in Kelvin’s death. Fatayi narrowly escaped the same fate thanks to the timely intervention of his brother and several friends who managed to rescue him from the scene.
