BENIN CITY – The state of insecurity in the country is assuming an alarming and frightening proportions and government seems to have lost control of the situation.

The recent killings of two members of the same family at Nomayo area, upper Sokponba Road, Benin City jostled residents of the area. The brutal murder of Osaro and Osasere Ojo by four gunmen who invaded the house with dangerous weapons.The gunmen were alleged to be members of the Eiye Confraternity.

The sad tale to these killings is that the two brothers were not members of any secret cult and it was learnt that they were killed because they refused initiation into the cult group.

It was also learnt that, the gunmen that killed the Ojo brothers were the ones that attacked the family of Umado in Isihor quarters in Benin City. The gunmen who have been on the trail of one Harrison Umado, attacked the house, wreaking havoc on residents of the house.

A family source who spoke to our reporter on condition of anonymity said that Harrison had problems with members of the Eiye secret cult group some years ago,that was when they threatened to kill him because he refused to be initiated into the confraternity. When the threats and harassment became unbearable,he had to flee for his life.

This recent attack on the family of Umado,may have been a misinformation that Harrison was in town, prompting the deadly cult group to send killers after him. Two occupants of the house was seriously injured, while the whereabouts of Harrison younger sister’s, who luckily escaped the attack is unknown. Harrison Umado’s life is still not safe as the cult group have vow to eliminate him when they see him.

As at the time of writing report,there is serious fighting between members of the Eiye confraternity and the Black Axe Confraternity aka Ayes. Several persons have lost their lives because of this senseless killings and properties worth millions of naira lost in the Benin City.
