BENIN CITY – The authorities of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) and elders of Ekosodin community both in Ovia North East Local Government Area, near Benin City have lauded Edo State government over the Construction of 9.84km road with asphalt overlay and another 1.76KM road awarded within the University premises

Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Lilian Salami thanked the Governor Godwin Obaseki for giving a matching order to Edo State Oil and Gas Producing Area Commission (EDSOGPADEC), the interventionist agency to give the school community a new look.

While expressing the University’s appreciation to Governor Godwin Obaseki and Chairman of the Commission, Pastor Kennedy Osifo, Professor Salami said the school would always remember the kind gesture of the state government.

On his part, the EDSOGPADEC Chairman said that the construction and asphalting of roads cuts across the three Oil Producing areas of the State.

Pastor Osifo said the Edo State Governor is investing greatly on Edo roads and in a bid to make Edo Great again, he gave EDSOGPADEC a matching order to construct and asphalt Ekosodin Road, which was splited into two phases

The Chairman stated that Ekosodin phase I consists of the main Ekosodin road, with five adjoining streets, while Ekosodin Phase II consists of the Construction 9.84km Road with Asphalt overlay and 1.76KM fresh road awarded within the premises of the University.

Some indigenes of Okabere Community were full of appreciation to the Edo State Governor, for the construction of PZ and Okabere roads

They said that the construction of the road has made life easy for indigenes of Community.

Receiving newsmen in his Office, the Chairman of EDSOGPADEC said that the construction of PZ – Okabere road was split into four units, Viz, PZ road 2073km; Ehioghae road 1.93km;Eriaria road, 1.95km and Okabere r, 5km.

He said the road which has reached 95 percent completion was first awarded in 2018 and re-awarded by the new Board in 2019.

“EDSOGPADEC as an interventionist agency moved swiftly into action to ameliorate the pains of the people of the community; EDSOGPADEC achievement is attributed to the developmental drive of his Excellency, Mr. Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki whose administration is desirous of bringing dividends of democracy to all economic sectors of the state to align with the Make Edo Great Again (MEGA) Agenda.”
