The Edo State Acting Governor, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu, has commended Edo residents for collaborating with security agencies in improving the security situation in the state, adding that the security of lives and property is a collective effort.

Shaibu gave the commendation after a joint security meeting with representatives of various security agencies in the state, at the Government House in Benin City.

“Our vigilante and hunters are working hand in hand with all the security agencies and we are happy that the village heads, clan heads and Odionweres are cooperating with our team,” he said.

According to him, “We are happy with the positive feedback from this collaboration and our people should know that the security of lives and property is a collective responsibility.

“If they see anything, they should report to the appropriate agency. We should be vigilant. We should not just relax and feel that these people have gone. Be very vigilant in our residence and business places. We should go about our business without fear.”

On his part, the state Commissioner of Police, Abutu Yaro, urged the residents to report any suspicious incident around them to the security agencies as this act would help security agencies combat crimes in the state.
