1. “As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus, so walk ye in him” col. 2.6. but before you can start walking in Christ, you must be deeply rooted in him without shaking. You have to be well built in him. So that no one can deceive you as Satan, that old serpent, deceived Eve with deceitful words. You should be so built in him that no one can take you to another way of life or a new philosophy. That is to say that you are so rooted in him so much that no one can remove your feet from that Solid Rock on which they are planted.
Hundreds of people around us say they are Christians but their feet are still not established in Christ. They can jump off to another doctrine any time; from the doctrine of Christ to satanic doctrines. Such doctrines they teach those who are not well rooted in Christ. They teach that Jesus is not the Son of God; that Jesus did not resurrect from the grave. They even teach that Jesus is not coming back again. Have you fallen into such dens of false doctrines? Quickly jump out with great force and cry out to Jesus to deliver you from Satan, that deceiver and liar.
2. “Therefore if any man is in Christ he is a new creature: old things are passed away behold all things are become new”. II Cor. 5.17.
Certainly, for you to live the Christian life, old things, sinful things must pass away and depart from you entirely. You are no longer in them and so you are able to walk with Christ. The life you live now is different from the one you were living in the past; it is now Christ that is living in you: “I am crucified with Christ: Nevertheless I live: yet no I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.” Gal. 2.20. Note that you cannot do it alone. It is Christ that can enable you live the new life. This is the more reason why you first have to surrender your life to Christ. It is first thing to do, and thereafter you confess all your sins to him, though he knows all your past sins. Then you turn away from them outright without delay. If you delay Satan may still come in a subtler and a cleverer way to take away that precious thing in your hand.
So for you to live this Christian life your old life of sin must be dropped completely.
3. How can a man live the Christian life if he has no delight in going to fellowship with other Christians in praying, in studying the word of God, in learning more about Christ? How can a man live the Christian life when he is not interested in sermons and messages but only in the music and the dancing in the Church. He never shows his face again until the following Sunday. He hates Bible studies and prayer meeting fellowship in the week. He forgets the Scripture: “For where two or three are gathered together in my name there am I in the midst of them” Mt.18.20
The early apostles were faithful and devoted in their faith. They were in fellowship regularly praying. They did not slack but were living the Christian life even in fellowship after Christ had ascended to heaven. They walked in Christ throughout life: “And they continued steadfastly in the apostles doctrine and fellowship and in breaking of bread and in prayers” Act. 2.42
So, it is difficult for Satan to reach you when you are studying the word of God and praying in the midst of brethren regularly.
Do you actually want to live a Christian life? Find a place you can continue fellowship apart from church service on Sunday. You will grow spiritually and continue the Christian life.
4. Now, how can one prove that he is living the Christian life when he is secretly kidnapping people, making the forest his habitation and hiding place.
How can one serving idols at the back of his house, come to the church regularly to present himself as one living the Christian life? Can one who is still in any secret society or occult with his charms or in yahoo claim that he is living the Christian life?
They do not even allow their evil work to be seen: “For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved” Jn. 3. 20
If truly you want to live the Christian life, you must disengage yourself totally from those criminals, boko-harams, armed robbers, hired assassins, liars, fornicators, adulterers and adulteresses, fraudsters and swindlers.
Today, disengage yourself from bribery and corruption and the kidnapping business no matter how lucrative and profitable they may appear to be. The Scripture has rightly warned: “For what is a man profited if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul”? So walk in Christ and live the Christian life. Begin the new journey today. For tomorrow may be too late.
