The elders and  people of Iguiye and Ohogua villages in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State, were full of excitement over the rural electrification project approved by His Excellency, Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki, the Executive Governor of Edo State
Speaking at Iguiye Village, the Chairman of the Edo State Oil and Gas Producing Areas Development Commission, EDSOGPADEC, Pastor Kennedy Osifo, leading board members and management of the commission on an awareness visit, told the  Odionwere, Pa Joseph Enadeghe and elders that Mr. Governor has approved their request and as such came to present the contractor, Roe Engineering System and Solutions Nigeria Limited to them since the village is in mandate areas of oil and gas producing local government.
Osifo, however, solicited their support to give adequate protection to the contractor and the facilities to enable speedy completion in line with Governor Obaseki specifications.
In his remarks, the  Okaeghele of Iguiye Village,  Godwin Ogbeide, who spoke on behalf of the  Odionwere and elders, thanked Governor Obaseki for this laudable gesture, saying successive governments in the state have neglected them for too long despite their political and economic potentials.
He prayed for God’s protection and direction for Mr.  Governor while assuring of their support and cooperation to protect the contractor and the facilities, adding that it is 31km from Benin City.
In the same vein, the EDSOGPADEC boss, while speaking to the Enogie, HRH Osagumwenro and the Odionwere who were unavoidably absent and elders of Ohogua village, said that he and his team had come to inspect the newly installed 500KVA and to also inform them that Mr.  Governor had approved the extension of the electrification across the village including the Internally displaced persons, IDP, camp since it is also in the oil and gas producing local government area in the state.
Osifo also urged them to  give adequate protection and support to the contractor and the facilities to aid the desired development.
While addressing the EDSOGPADEC boss and his team, the Third-in-command, Mr. Moses Omonuwa, thanked His Excellency for this developmental feat, saying it is first of its kind  in the history of the village.
He added that there had been jubilation since Mr.  Governor approved the installation of the 500KVA transformer in the locality, pointing out that their requests have been turned down previously, describing Governor Obaseki as a true democrat and selfless leader.
He prayed for God’s protection upon Mr.  Governor and the EDSOGPADEC team to enable them perfect the good work they are doing for humanity, just as Pastor Solomon in charge of the IDP camp, also thanked Governor Obaseki for giving life to the people by this project.
He assured of their desire to give adequate protection to both the contractor and the facilities.
Present include Hon Mrs.  Omosede Obamwonyi, member, representing Ovia North East, Hon. Dudu Williams, representing Ikpoba Okha and  Mr. Toju Onaiwu, the Permanent Secretary/Secretary to the Commission among others.
