Lagos – A first class traditional ruler, the Ohi of Eganyi and Chairman, Ajaokuta Local Government Traditional Area Council, Alhaji Musa Isah Achuja in Kogi State have been suspended for alleged involvement in the killing of eight security agents.

The State Governor, Yahaya Bello issued the immediate suspension of a first class traditional ruler and query to the Chairman of the Local government council over their suspected activities in the murder of the securitymen.

Bello’s suspension of the traditional ruler follows the investigation that led to his arrest and detention by a security agency.

The Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Onogu Muhammed confirmed the suspension of the traditional ruler in a statement in Lokoja on Sunday.

According to the CPS, “In a letter to the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Bello also directed that the Chairman of Ajaokuta Local Government Area, Mustapha Aka’aba be issued a query over a breach and should reply within 24 hours”.

“The governor’s directive against the affected persons is in connection with the recent security breach in the area which led to the untimely deaths of Eight security personnel who were on legitimate engagements of maintaining law and orders.

“The governor strongly warned other traditional rulers across the state who may have connection in one way or the other with criminal elements in their domains to desist forthwith,” the statement said.

“Governor Bello also re emphasized that his administration will deal ruthlessly with anybody found to be romancing with criminal elements no matter how highly placed.

”In the same vein, Governor Bello also directed that all unofficial movements of the local government chairmen out of their territory and other journeys without due process are hereby restricted

“The governor warned that no amount of connivance with criminals will deter him from his fundamental responsibility of protecting lives and property of the citizens and residents of the state,” the statement explained.
