Insurance Football Club of Benin on Sunday afternoon, surrendered all points available in the Nigeria National League match day 21 as they fell to J.Atete FC by 1-0 in Abakaliki.

Onuora Nwachukwu scored the only goal of the match for J.Atete FC in the 42nd minute after goalkeeper Kolawole Oladipo’s error gifted the striker the chance to head the ball into an empty net.

The Benin Arsenals would have been two goals up within twenty minutes of the encounter at the P.A Oturu Ngele stadium but Shaibu Mohammed and Towo Eventus seperately missed a one-on-one scoring opportunities.

On resumption of the second half, Insurance Technical bench in their search for equaliser, brought Deputy Echeta, Oluka Ngei and Imade Osarenkhoe in the place of wasteful Shaibu Mohammed and Towo Eventus but the Atete boys did everything to run away with the three points.

It was Insurance FC second defeat within twenty four hours following the clash in fixture of Nigeria National League and 2022 Aiteo Cup round of 16.

Insurance narrowly lost to Nasarawa Utd 2-1 in the Aiteo Cup round of 16 match at Enyimba Stadium on Saturday and travelled to Abakaliki to honour NNL match day 21 against J.Atete in a neutral ground in Ebonyi state capital on Sunday evening.

Insurance FC loss to J.Atete FC, no doubt could be attributed to fatigue following their long distant trip from Ilorin on Thursday and were on the road again to Aba on Friday before Abakaliki trip on Sunday.

The Benin Arsenal whose status has changed from NNL club to NPFL after amassing 46 points from 21 games to win group B1 ticket, will play host to Vandrezzer FC of Lagos in the last match of the season at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium on Saturday evening, will be looking to bounce back and finish the season with victory at home.
