Benin-City – Edo State House of Assembly on Monday confirmed Mrs Grace Aihie as the Managing Director of Edo Geographic Information Service (EDOGIS).

The confirmation was sequel to the consideration of the report of an ad-hoc committee set up by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. .Marcus Onobun for her screening.

Speaking shortly after presenting the report of the ad-hoc committee which screened the nominee sent by the state Governor, Godwin Obaseki for the position of the Managing Director, Edo Geographic Information Service (EDOGIS), Mrs Grace Aihie, the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Roland Asoro said the report of the committee had four findings and one recommendation.

The House at the committee of the whole approved the one point recommendation in the report which stated that the nominee be confirmed as the Managing Director of EDOGIS.

Meanwhile, the House also considered and passed a bill for a law to repeal the criminal code law 1916, enact a law to provide rules on criminal conduct, regulate public order.

The passage of the bill was sequel to the consideration of the report on the bill at the committee of the whole.

The House at the committee of the whole considered the seven findings and one point recommendation that the bill be considered and passed.

During the clause by clause of the bill, the House considered the title, enactment, citation and other relevant sections of “the bill for a law to repeal the criminal code law 1916; enact a law to provide rules on criminal conduct, regulate public order and for connected purposes”.

The Clerk of the House, Mr.Yahaya Omogbai, after the consideration of the bill, was directed to give the bill its third reading and to also transmit clean copies of the resolution to the Governor for his ascent.
