BENIN CITY-A 36 year-old medical doctor, Abbas Adio Adeyemi Adebowale has allegedly murdered a cab driver and made away with his car in Benin City.

The victim, Emmanuel Yobo Agbovinwre, 39, father of two was allegedly administered a lethal injection by the doctor who thereafter dumped his corpse at a bush along Benin-Akure road and drove his car away on Saturday, September 3, 2022.

Police arrested him at Ede town in Osun State and the driver’s white Voltron Camry car marked YAB 268-CN recovered from him.

Some used syringes, highly sedative (Daizapam) injection popularly known as vallum, and insecticide fluid in a container were recovered inside the stolen car.

Dr. Abbas claimed to be a staff of General Hospital in Kalama, Kwara State and a 2013 graduate of University of Ilorin, Kwara State.

It was gathered that, Dr.  Adebowale had booked the cab driver after selling a Toyota Camry car with registration number WSN 494 AA he drove from Kwara State to Benin City.

The buyer of the car has surrendered it to police for checks.

It was further scooped that the unsuspecting cab driver has been the doctor’s driver whenever he is in Benin City, since July this year when they first met.

The victim’s brother Mr. Afure Agbovinwre said he had to travel from Eku in Delta State where they hail from to report to police in Benin City that his brother was missing.

He explained that the swift response of operatives of Edo State Police Command led to the arrest of the suspect and recovery of the car.

The suspect, Dr. Abbas Adio Adeyemi Adebowale who declined response to questions put to him by journalists, pleaded with the family of the deceased for forgiveness claiming it was not a premeditated act.

“I know Mr Emmanuel as a cab driver, we have shared secrets together, I was alleged of killing him with poison. I employ you to allow the police do their job. Anything I tell you now will jeopardize ongoing investigation, the court will decide’, Dr. Abbas Adio Adeyemi Adebowale maintained.
