The Edo State Government will, on Monday, October 31, 2022, meet with hoteliers and owners of clubs, lounges, bars and event centres within the Benin metropolis to get the buy-in of the stakeholders in the development of the Benin City Masterplan.

Commissioner for Physical Planning, Housing, Urban and Regional Development (MPPHURD), Isoken Omo, in a statement, said the workshop will hold at the Festival Hall, Government House, Benin City.

According to her, “The Ministry of Physical Planning, Housing, Urban and Regional Development, on behalf of the Edo State Government is inviting operators to a Stakeholders’ Meeting to discuss how hotels, clubs, lounges, bars and event centres will operate within the Benin City Masterplan.”

The state government is developing 2 30-year masterplans known as the Benin City Masterplan and Edo Regional Development Plan, which will provide direction on the state’s development priorities up till 2050, to make Edo the best sub-national in Africa to live and prosper.

The Benin City Masterplan entails the development of a New Town and the regeneration of Ihama, Boundary and Country Home Roads in the metropolis.

A number of workshops have been organized in the past few months to get the support and buy-in of different stakeholders in the state so as to ensure stakeholder ownership beyond the Governor Godwin Godwin Obaseki-led administration.
