Benin City: The Edo State chapter of Civil Society Action Coalition on Education for All (CSACEFA) has elected new executives that will run the affairs of the group for the next two years. The election which was conducted on Thursday 26 October 2022 in Benin City, brought about the emergence of Comrade Ronke Ojeikere as the State Coordinator.

Others elected include: Patience Igbinedion – Secretary, Ufuoma Akpobi- Treasurer, Asije Sunday -PRO.

In her acceptance, after being sworn in by the legal adviser- Agatha Osieke, Esq, represented by Clementina Raji, Esq, Comrade Ronke Ojeikere thankes both the old and new members of the group and assured them of her readiness to carry every members along. She said following the success of the election, the group is now ready to engage the state government in a bid to ensuring safe, secured and violence-free school for the children of the State. Hear her:

“Now that there are elected executives, we are now ready to engage the government for our children and to unit CSACEFA members by discouraging egocentrism. We can now speak and act with one voice; my exco and I will work as one body to ensure we do not fail. We will not be seen as selfish in the light of our children, and in the light of CSACEFA.

“We will not concentrate on Benin City, we will make sure the whole local government areas benefit from our projects. Our children are no more safe everywhere, hence we have a program with the theme: ‘Safeguarding, Safety, Secured, and Violence-free School.

“Our children are leaving school in millions and are being smuggled out as illegal migrants. We are now going to schools to educate the children on the ills of leaving school prematurely”.

Also speaking, the newly elected Treasurer- Ufuoma Akpobi, Secretary- Patience Igbinedion, PRO- Asije Sunday, said things are not going to be the way it used to be, that, they are now in a new era. “We will work together as one body in order to ensure that every child that needed to be in school are in school”, they said.

The representative of Edo State Universal Basic Primary Education Board- Mr. Okpiavbe Eghosa, called on CSACEFA to help in the proper upbringing of children in schools, saying many parents are no more concerned about the upbringing of their children.

Mrs. Akhigbe Miriam Amarachukwu of Help Me To Succeed Foundation (HMTSF) called on members to join hands with the executives to succeed. She also used the medium to inform the new exco of her organization’s program on moral decadence and digital literacy.

Organizations that constitution CSACEFA include: SOTHAWACA, GPI, IYO, WOYCAP, HMTSF, Caring Heart Initiative, Project Charilove, etc.
