The Edo State Police Command has arrested four persons alleged to be engaging in illegal ticketing in the Ogheghe axis of Sapele Road, Benin City.

As part of efforts to tackle activities of ticketing fraudsters, Edo State Commissioner of Police, CP Abutu Yaro, set up a taskforce to work with the State lnternal Revenue Service to track down the perpetrators. The CP assured that the arrested culprits will be charged to court to face prosecution for their fraudulent actions.

The Police Commissioner made the disclosure at the State Police Headquarters in Benin City while speaking with journalists on the arrest of the four persons allegedly involved in illegal ticketing in Ogheghe Community.

Recall that Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt.Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu, has expressed government’s displeasure at illegal ticketing across the State at several fora.

The suspects with illegal ticket booklets carrying the inscription ‘bike riders welfare’ were arrested after a tip off in their various locations.

Shaibu had restated the State Government’s resolve to clamp down on illegal ticketing in any form and warned those still perpetuating the act to desist as government would not hesitate to deal with offenders and their sponsors.

The Police Commissioner said the taskforce will commence work immediately.

The four suspects arrested confessed their active involvement in unwholesome act.
