The draw for the forthcoming Africa U-20 Egypt 2023 soccer tournament will hold today, Friday, in Cairo, Egypt. At the close of business today, the Nigerian Flying Eagles will know their group opponents in the tournament.

Presently, the Flying Eagles who are seven time winners of the title are on a two-week recess and are expected to resume camp first week of January for the final phase of preparations ahead of the competition. Before their recess, the team recorded eight wins and a draw in the nine friendly games they played since they opened camp on November 28.

Flying Eagle’s coach, Ladan Bosso, is confident about his team’s qualifying for the U-20 World Cup billed for Indonesia.

“We already know it’s very cold now in Egypt and here in Nigeria it’s hot, so we have to acclimatise as soon as possible,” he said, remarking on his teams’ preparation for the tournament. “As soon as we meet the deadline for the submission for our final squad in January, we will be good to go. “We first have to reach the semi-final, which will give us the ticket to the World Cup, and then we will see.”

The draw will be conducted in Cairo, Egypt at the headquarters of the Egyptian football Association (EFA) from 17h00. The tournament will be played from 19 February to 11 March 2023 in Egypt: Cairo, Ismailia, and Alexandria.

The qualified countries for the U-20 AFCON, Egypt 2023 tournament are Benin, Nigeria, Mozambique, Zambia, Egypt (the host), Tunisia, South Sudan, Uganda, Gambia, Senegal, Congo and Central African.
