Nigerian striker, Asisat Oshoala has set the outstanding record of becoming the first-ever African woman to be nominated for the Women’s Ballon d’Or player of the year award.

Asisat Oshoala had an incredible run as one of the best women football players in the world. Before her nomination for the 2022 Women’s Ballon d’Or player of the year award, she became the best ever African women football player after winning the CAF player of the year award a record 5 times.

Asisat who also plays for Barcelona Femeni beats Ajara Nchout Njoya (Cameroon and Inter Milan) and Zambia international Grace Chanda (Zambia and BIIK Kazygurt) to clinch the prestigious award for the 5th time.

She however joined the list of 20 best female footballers in the world, making her the first-ever African woman to join the list.
