The Emir of Dutse, Jigawa State, Alhaji Dr. Nuhu Muhammad Sanusi, is dead.

He died on Tuesday evening in an undisclosed hospital in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, following a protracted illness.

As at the time of filing this report, the Emirate was yet to announce details of his burial arrangements.

Alhaji Sanusi was one of the longest serving monarchs on the throne as Emir of Dutse.

In his time as Emir of Dutse, the Emirate recorded significant transformation, making the Dutse city an economic hub in the North.

The prominent Jigawa monarch was said to have been ill for a while.

According to his online profile, Emir Sanusi was born in 1945 at Yargaba village in Dutse, the capital of Jigawa State, Dr Sanusi attended Dutse Elementary School from 1952 to 1956.

He acquired substantial experience in agricultural consultancy and industrial and commercial management after working for several years.
