Under the umbrella of a US-based not-for-profit organization for political awareness and participation, Diasporans for PDP, Nigerians in diaspora, lovers and members of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), will be congregating this coming weekend for the fourth edition of their flagship event, the Civic Engagement Series. The event will be held virtually on Sunday, January 22, 2023 beginning at 6:00 p.m. Nigerian time.

“The Civic Engagement Series is the flagship event of Diasporans for PDP dedicated to promoting current and future leaders of the People’s Democratic Party in Nigeria and in diaspora. The theme of this month’s event is ‘Getting out the Votes for PDP and Showcasing of PDP 2023 Female Candidates’,” said the organization’s Founder and National Chair Hon. Victoria Pamugo in a press statement. “We invite everybody to RSVP through our website to hear a panelist of highly qualified female candidates running for office across the nation under the PDP platform.”

Diasporans for PDP is a registered non-profit organization based in the United States of America, with members from many countries including but not limited to Australia, Austria, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Netherlands, Norway, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom and United States of America.

There are two major goals for this month’s event. First is to continue to create awareness of Atiku Abubakar’s Five-Point Agenda and vision for a more prosperous Nigeria. Senator Phillip Tanimu Aduda, Senate Minority Leader will attend.

The Director of Public Affairs and Spokesperson of the 2023 PDP Presidential Campaign Management Council, Senator Dino Melaye will join the virtual event to answer diasporans’ questions on how PDP will bring change to Nigeria after the past eight years of incompetence, corruption, hardship, backwardness, unemployment, insecurity, inflation and high cost of living, etc., created by President Muhammadu Buhari and his corrupt friends at the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The second objective is to showcase a list of PDP stakeholders and highly-qualified female candidates running for office at various levels, including Senate, House of Representative, House of Assembly and Gubernatorial candidates across the nation. This includes Prof. Stella Effah-Attoe, PDP National Women Leader, Hajia Maryam Inna Ciroma, Former Minister of Women Affairs, Amb. Dr. Kema Chikwe, Former Minister of Transport, Dame Dr. Mrs. Esther Uduehi, Member of PDP Board of Trustees.

In a previous press statement, Hon. Pamugo said that “We are here to galvanize and mobilize support for our party’s candidates in this election and ensure a resounding victory for PDP”.

Recall that Diasporans for PDP has been preparing for the 2023 elections and has organized a number of virtual town-hall events in the past months to showcase PDP candidates, party manifesto, and promote voter education.

The organization has also promoted voter education and PVC registration through the Nigerian chapter members in all the states including FCT. As the 2023 presidential election approaches, their ground operation includes rallies and door-knocking in all states of the federation, informing fellow Nigerians on why Atiku Abubakar remains the best candidate for Nigeria.

“This election provides an important opportunity for Nigeria to change direction after eight years of absolute chaos in our country, incompetence, propagation of corruption, embezzlement of treasury, and total mismanagement of national priorities by President Muhammadu Buhari and his APC cronies,” Hon. Pamugo reiterated.

“We stand strongly behind our presidential candidate, His Excellency Atiku Abubakar. We will mobilize our brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, uncles and families in Nigeria to vote wisely and together we will redeem our country from the harm caused by President Buhari and his APC friends over the past eight years,” she re-emphasized.
