In continuation of the ongoing community-to-community campaigns across Delta State, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has flagged off its campaign with a press conference at the Udu Harbour Market in Udu.

Speaking at the occasion, the Udu PDP campaign Coordinator and Chairman, Elegbete Moses Odiobo, described Udu as one of the major beneficiaries of the PDP-led administration in the state in terms of human capital and infrastructural development.

He highlighted numerous major projects embarked upon by the PDP-led administration both at the state and local government level which had benefitted Udu sons and daughters, especially the youths in the community.

He particularly said that over 390 youths received empowerment through the STEP/YAGEP and other empowerment programs of the state government.

He also added that in terms of infrastructure in Udu, the Harbour Market was also a testimony of the good work of PDP, including the construction of the Ovwian Road with good drainage and reconstruction of the Ekete Main Market, among others.

Odiobo while answering the question on the possibility of completing the Harbour Market before the 2023 elections, assured Udu people of at least 70 percent completion before the election, adding that even after the elections, engineers would work on-site for the final completion of the project.

He stated that the starting point of the Udu campaigns at the Udu Harbour Market was deliberate to make the people see what PDP had done, saying that the massive market project of 610 lockup shops, 150 open shops and other facilities, like a mini police station, could only be embarked upon by a party with capacity and capability which the PDP stood for.

“Udu is very ready to vote massively for PDP, especially with mass defection from APC chieftain to the PDP. UDU is ready like never before,” Odibo affirmed.

He further declared that the time to liberate Nigeria from frustration and poverty had come and also a time for restoration of Udo’s lost glory by ensuring that Delta Steel Company worked again.

He further urged the people to vote massively for PDP 5/5: By voting Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for President and Vice President respectively; Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori and Sir. Monday Onyeme for Governor and Deputy Governor respectively; Chief Ighoyota Amori for Senate, Delta Central District; Hon. Solomon Ahwinahwi for House of Representatives, Ughelli North/Ughelli South/Udu Federal Constituency and also their own son Hon. Jite Brown for Delta State House of Assembly, Udu Local Government Area.

The campaign train then proceeded to the Palace of the Ovie of Udu kingdom, Owhorhu 1 Eammunel Bethel, for blessings.
