The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is formally opening its National Collation Centre for Nigeria’s ongoing 2023 elections in Abuja. INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmoud Yakubu was presenting his opening remarks as at the time of filing this report.

“Disregard everything you’ve read so far on social media on polling unit results. Here, you’ll hear directly from the horse’s mouth, state by state results by State Collation Officers for Presidential Election and final declaration of results by the Returning Officer/INEC CHAIRMAN”, Yakubu said.

Proceedings have been adjourned till 6pm Sunday, as no results from states had arrived the centre as at the time of this report.

Yakubu urged the media to desist from announcing results not approved by the Commission.

“Only INEC-sanctioned results are allowed and we are certain that by 6pm, one or two of the SCOPEs would have arrived,” he said.
