With extreme sadness, Tony and Lynn Forbes acknowledged the passing of their beloved son, Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, who to many was known as AKA. This was contained in a family official statement dated 11 February, 2023.
The family official statement also confirmed his untimely and tragic death on the evening of February 10, 2023.
“We are awaiting further details from the Durban Police. To us, Kiernan Jarryd Forbes was a son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, friend, and most importantly, father to his beloved daughter Kairo.” The statement specified.
AKA was shot dead along with his longtime friend and well-known chef Tebello Motsoane at a popular night spot in Florida Road, Durban the night of February 10, 2023.
The Forbes family awaits further details from Durban police who are investigating the double murder.
The rapper and his bodyguard were gunned down in a drive-by. According to ALS Paramedics Medical Services spokesperson Garrith Jamieson, all attempts to resuscitate at the scene were unsuccessful.
