The Permanent Secretary Edo State Sports Commission, Mrs Sabina Chikere, has charged staff of the organisation to develop the concept of change so as to enable them key into the “Make Edo Great Again”(MEGA) agenda of Godwin Obaseki led administration in Edo State.

Speaking at the resumed training and re-training of the commission’s staff on Wednesday, Mrs Chikere said the new culture of the state government’s agenda is that the entire workforce in the state are trained for enhanced service delivery.

She however encouraged participants to see the training as part of government’s determination to bequeat the state with a viable civil / public service that can stand the test of time in terms of service delivery optimally.

On his part, the consultant on sports to the commission, Dr. Kweku Tandoh challenged the staff to use the opportunity created by the training to enhance their service delivery as a worker in the commission in particular and the state in general.

Dr. Tandoh who told the participants that he has spent over 35 years as a sport administrator revealed that better opportunities abound in the commission than some other sectors within government establishment and therefore charged them to make maximum use of this avenue to better their well-being both financially and otherwise.

Speaking on the topic, “Culture Change lnitiative; Agents and Graduate Trainees Engagement On Commercial Acumen”, the resource person, Dr. Mrs Aminat Abhulimen said the target given to the sports commission by government is to raise 10,000 Athletes within five years, adding that this development would within this period take the youths out of the street for positive engagement through sports development.

Dr. Abhulimen further informed the participants that creating value and protecting the values achieved are absolutely necessary to the overall development and upliftment of the organisation.

According to Dr. Mrs Aminat Abhulimen, “share resources, information, prioritise activities, as well as effective planning are key elements to financial transaction that drive revenue generation for cost and expenditure”.

While encouraging participants to create a low cost mentality, she noted that commitment to actions geared towards making sure that every naira and Kobo count in various ministries, departments and Agencies of government are key in achieving the Edo state government cost saving rules.
