Suspected terrorists have launched a violent attack on Nigeria’s northern state of Kogi. The unidentified gunmen attacked Okehi Local Government Area of the state and left without a trace.

The gunmen reportedly attacked the local government secretariat yesterday (Monday), detonating substances identified as explosives.

No casualty has been reported from the attack, and the real attackers have not been identified.

Kogi State Police public relations officer William Ovye Aya confirmed the incident, saying the police authorities are investigating the rationale behind the attack.

Islamic State-backed faction of Boko Haram, the Islamic State West Africa Province, ISWAP, had claimed responsibility for a car bomb explosion that killed about four people and injured several others in the Okene Local Government Area of Kogi State in January.
