Flying Eagles, who have been unbeaten in 16 test games leading to the U20 AFCON later this month in Egypt, will test their readiness for the tournament when they welcome their Zambian counterparts today in a warm-up clash at the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja. Kick off time is 4pm.

This will be Flying Eagles’ farewell match before they jet out to Morocco early next week for a training tour prior to hitting Egypt for the U20 AFCON, which will also serve as qualifiers for the FIFA U20 World Cup in Indonesia in May.

On Tuesday, the team handled by coach Ladan Bosso thrashed NLO side Capital City FC with goals from new-found striker Olamilekan Adams, Ibrahim Yahaya, Samson Lawal and Solomon Agbalaka.

Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro watched the Flying Eagles win and he will also be expected to run his rule on the players today.

Coach Bosso, will line up his strongest team in his preferred 4-3-3 formation as he begins the real countdown to the U20 AFCON.

Champions of the WAFU B U20 Championship held in Niger Republic in May 2022, the Flying Eagles have been drawn to play hosts Egypt, Senegal and Mozambique in a tough-looking Group A of the Africa U20 Cup of Nations taking place 18th February – 12th March this year.

Zambia’s Junior Chipolopolo, who hosted and won the 2017 U20 AFCON, have been drawn in Group C alongside Gambia, Tunisia and Benin Republic.

They will also face the Flying Eagles group rivals Senegal in Dakar before the big kick-off.

The team coached by Chisi Mbewe are staging a comeback to the tournament proper since they won it six years ago.
