It will be recalled that the tournament earlier scheduled to be staged this year was rescheduled for January 2024 and a start date has now been confirmed by the continent’s football governing body, ACLSports report.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced the kick-off and final dates for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations to be hosted in Cote d’Ivoire.

The opening match of the 34th edition of the tournament will take place at the newly built Alassane Quatara Stadium in Ebimpe, Abidjan on Saturday, January 13, 2024.

The ground will host the final on Sunday, February 11, 2024, Daily Post reports.

The final draw of the 2023 AFCON will be held in September 2023. The date and venue will be confirmed by CAF in due course.

24 teams will participate in the four-week tournament.
Six countries; Algeria, Morocco, South Africa, Tunisia, Burkina Faso, Senegal, and hosts Cote d’Ivoire have already qualified for the biennial competition.
