The special task force inaugurated by the Edo State government is living up to its responsibility of ensuring that all illegal parks around the Ring Road axis in Benin City are relocated to the Benin modern central park created by the government.

The members of the task force comprising the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) and the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) came out en masse in the early hours of Wednesday to ensure that commercial drivers in the city complied with the directive.

According to the task force headed by Edo State Traffic Control and Management Agency (EDSTMA), boarding of vehicles at Obakaivaye Junction, Kings Square, Ibiwe and Siluko Road Junction will no longer be tolerated.

Speaking in an interview with The Nigerian Observer, the EDSTMA head of operations, Mr. Osagie Emokpe, said, “Every bus picking passengers must come to the central park to drop off the passenger, and so far all the drivers have been compliant except a vehicle that has been apprehended and will be taken to the EDSTMA office to face the mobile court. The vehicle that was apprehended has plate No. NBJ-11ZY.”
