The Edo State office of the National Population Commission (NPC) has fixed Friday, March 3, 2023 for a one-day capacity building workshop for journalists in Benin City, the state capital, on ‘Effective Reporting of the 2023 Population and Housing Census’.
Apart from sensitisation on effective reporting, the workshop will also update journalists on the status of the preparatory activities for the 2023 census, according to a statement issued by Edo State director, Mr. Ayodele Okiei, on behalf of the Hon. Federal Commissioner, NPC.
“The objective of the workshop is to strengthen journalists’ understanding and application of basic concepts in census taking, to neutralise negative prejudices, misconceptions and misrepresentation on the census among sections of the Nigerian media, and to update journalists on the status of preparatory activities for the 2023 census,” the statement said.
