The ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State has won majority seats in the March 18, 2023 House of Assembly election. Pundits say the election result is a testimonial of trust and confidence of the people of the state in the sitting Governor Godwin Obaseki and his stirling accomplishments for their good.

The ruling party, the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) has won 12 seats out of the 21 state constituencies’ results so far declared for the poll.

The Edo State Assembly comprises of a 24-member state parliament.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) is said to have won seven seats so far, with Labour Party (LP) having won one seat.

Results for two constituencies are being awaited, with that of Egor declared inconclusive by the Independent National Electoral Commission. A fresh poll is expected to take place in about four areas of the local council.

Ahead of the State House of Assembly poll, Governor Obaseki had sought the people’s support to enthrone a PDP-controlled House, to consolidate on the gains of his administration.
