Former Federal Minister of Information, Prof Sam Oyovbaire, has described the emergence of Delta State Governor-Elect, Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, as the handiwork of God, and urged his political opponents to sheathe their swords and join hands to move the state forward.

Oyovbaire, who was at the Osubi country home of the Delta State Governor-Elect to congratulate him over his landslide victory at the polls, said God gives power to whoever he chooses and that when God anointed David to be king over Israel, all efforts made by King Saul to stop him proved abortive.

Oyovbaire likened Sheriff Oborevwori to King David who despite all ordeals, prevailed because he was the man after God’s heart. He urged the incoming governor of Delta State, to reach out to his traducers, settle all grey areas relating to the 2023 electioneering contest within Delta PDP, and be governor for all Deltans as promised during his electioneering campaign.

He described Sheriff Oborevwori as a source of pride to Delta State, Okpe Kingdom, as well as the Urhobo nation and commended his visionary leadership as the longest serving Speaker of the State House of Assembly, noting that Oborevwori’s wealth of experience and the political bridges he built across board over the years will make the business of governance easier, smooth and result oriented.

“It’s by God’s special grace that you made it at the polls to become our next party leader and governor. I have no doubt that you will do well to build on the solid legacies of our amiable incumbent leader and governor, Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa.

“Looking back to the many battles you fought before and after the governorship primary, it became crystal clear that you are God’s choice for Delta State at this time.

“When God anointed David to be king over Israel, all efforts to stop him proved abortive. King Saul could not stop the move of God concerning David. I see you in that light, judging from the series of legal battles you went through, and God was there working out things for you until you were declared Governor-Elect. God be praised.

“You are my special son and I urge you to give your best to Delta State, be governor for all Deltans and do as you have said by advancing Delta with your M.O.R.E agenda,” Oyovbaire said.

Delta Governor-Elect, Sheriff Oborevwori thanked Oyovbaire for finding time out of his busy schedule to pay him a congratulatory visit.

Oborevwori said Prof Oyovbaire has been a major source of inspiration and promised to consult him for useful advise whenever the need arises. He added that as one of the founding fathers of the PDP, his inputs in government would add value to governance in the state.

“I am so delighted that my daddy (Prof Oyovbaire) is here to celebrate with me over my victory and PDP’s success at the just concluded governorship election. It’s heart warming.

“You have been a source of inspiration to me and upcoming politicians in the state. I will not disappoint you as I assume office on May 29. I will always consult you whenever the need arises,” Oborevwori assured.

Meanwhile at Osubi Community in Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State, residents and party members gathered at Osubi Airport to welcome Delta State Governor-Elect, Rt Hon Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, over his victory at the polls on March 18.

Oborevwori had a long walk with his teeming supporters from Osubi Airport via Ughelli Motor Park to Osubi Civic Centre where he addressed a Mammoth crowd, thanking them for their support, prayers and show of love.

He reaffirmed his determination to listen more, do more and achieve more for the good people of Delta State through the instrumentality of the M.O.R.E Agenda; Meaningful Development, Opportunity for all Deltans, Realistic Reforms and Enhanced peace and security, anchored on transparency, accountability, honesty, equity and good conscience.
