Barely two months after a two-storey building collapsed in Gwarinpa area of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, a fence structure has collapsed at a construction site at Ademola Adetokunbo Crescent, Wuse 2, Abuja.

Two workers are suspected to have died in the fence collapse which happened on Wednesday, 19 April 2023, according to a Daily Trust report.

While more details are yet to emerge, the report said the rescue operators led by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), FCT Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Federal Fire Service, and other volunteers mobilised to the scene and may have rescued four injured persons.

Meanwhile, search and rescue operation continued in case there were others still trapped in the rubble.

Recall that on 2 February 2023, a building under construction at 7th Avenue in Gwarinpa area of FCT, which also housed a shopping mall, collapsed, with three persons feared dead, 15 rescued, and many others suspected to be trapped under the rubbles.

The rescue team comprised a combined team of the Abuja Metropolitan Management Council (AMAC), Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), among others.

Umar Shuaibu, Coordinator of the Abuja Metropolitan Management Council (AMMC), had said then that the Council would conduct an integrity test on houses around the collapsed building after the recuse operation.
