Delta State Directorate of Humanitarian and Community Support Services has organised a one-day programme for the beneficiaries and service providers, implementing the four components of the National Social Investment Programmes (NSIP) in the state to appreciate the President, Muhammadu Buhari, and the state governor, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa.
The event took place at the Oshimili South Local Government Arcade in Asaba.
The Federal Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development (FMHADMSD), Sadiya Farouq, commended the beneficiaries and aggregators for being appreciative of President Buhari and Governor Okowa.
The Minister, who was represented by a Senior official of the NSIP in her ministry, Mrs. Dora Moses, appealed to caterers under the National Home-Grown School Feeding Programme (NHGSFP) to exercise a little patience, adding that they would be paid upon resumption of the third term of school calendar in April.
The Commissioner for Humanitarian and Community Support Services, Dr. Darlington Ijeh, represented by Mr. Henry Agwazim, commended the state government under Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for providing the enabling environment for the overall success of the Federal Government’s social intervention programme in Delta State.
“The four components of NSIP, namely Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT), N-power, Government Enterprises Empowerment Programme (GEEP), and National Home-Grown School Feeding Programme (NHGSFP) are poverty alleviation mechanisms which the state governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa perceived as veritable tools in executing the Stronger Delta Mantra,” he added.
Dr. Ijeh, who is the State Focal Person (FP) of NSIP, assured the beneficiaries that the programme had come to stay by announcing the completion of the Kitchen House in the City of Warri.
The State Director, National Orientation Agency (NOA), Dr. Chris Anyabuine, on his part, lauded the efforts of the Federal Government and Delta State Government in partnering and collaborating effectively to ensure the successes in the various components of the programme.
The Chairman, Association of Secretaries and NGOs of NSIP, Chief Murray Okpor, also lauded the various managements of the programme, most especially those on the field, for their efforts at ensuring its success in the state.
Highlight of the event was the match pass by the four components of NSIP as they danced round the event ground, while the caterers added colours, wearing kitchen aprons and chanting loudly, “Thank You Mr. President, Thank You Governor Okowa.”
Present at the event were the Programme Manager, Epiphany Kalibe (a lawyer); Desk Officer, Mrs. Stephanie Ikechukwu, Lead Agents, Community Mobilisation Officers (COMOs), beneficiaries of GEEP, CCT. N-power and NHGSFP from the 25 Local Government areas of the state.
