The Department of State Services (DSS) says it has arrested two gunmen in Kano for planning attacks in one of the Northern states during the Eid al-fitr celebration.
Peter Afunanya, Public Relations Officer of the Service stated this in a press statement on Thursday.
Afunanya stated that the suspects were in transit to deliver the arms for a planned attack in one of the States in Northern Nigeria when they were apprehended, stressing that this development underscores the need for citizens to be extra vigilant and report any unusual or suspicious movements, persons or acts to the security agencies nearest to them.
The statement further emphasized that operators and patrons of fun, hospitality, and tourism centres are enjoined to be cautious during the celebration, while scaling up measures to ensure the safety of their facilities.
While wishing the Muslim faithful, peaceful and joyous Eid al-Fitr celebrations, the Service pledges to work with sister agencies and other stakeholders to emplace adequate security during and after the Eid al-Fitr celebrations.
