The general public, particularly motorists with expired vehicle documents, have been called on to take advantage of the Edo State Internal Revenue Service (EIRS) self-service portal by visiting www.eirs.gov.ng or logging on to https://selfservice.eirs.gov.ng to fast-track the vehicle renewal process.

Chairman, Taskforce on Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), EIRS, Hon. John Osagie Inegbedion, who made the call through a press statement made available to The Nigerian Observer on Thursday, said that motorists could also visit the nearest EIRS branch office to renew same.

Hon. Inegbedion encouraged motorists to make use of the digital renewal channel in view of a planned joint motor vehicle documentation and compliance exercise aimed to ensure motorists are in tandem with the extant road traffic laws.

During this period, “security and traffic agencies of government shall be on the road to ensure motorists possess valid vehicle license, drivers’ license, number plate, road worthiness certificate and hackney carriage”, he said.

Inegbedion said the digitization move is a step towards sustaining the gains of the EIRS automation process through rendering of quality service delivery to motorists in Edo State within the motor vehicle administration space.

The introduction of the self-service portal, he noted, is part of efforts geared toward enhanced quality service delivery as well as speed up the ease of the renewal process, as to save time and protect motorists from being victims of a fraud process.
