The Chairman of Ika South Local Government Council in Delta State, Hon. Sunday Tataobuzogwu, has announced the indefinite suspension of all activities of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in branches A, C and Ekuku-Agbor in Ika South.

Hon. Tataobuzogwu made this known in a statement, he signed and made available to newsmen after a strategic security meeting with heads of security agencies and Agbor Community PG, Chief Larry Onyeche, and the Police Area Commander, ACP Adamu Idachaba, in his office.

According to the statement, the measure was to curb the breakdown of law and order that may destruct the existing peace in the locality.

He reinterated that the order was in exercise of the constitutional powers vested on the Local Government Council to build, maintain and manage motor parks.

The statement also mandated the conventional security agencies, working with local security outfits, to execute the order and ensure peace and security in the affected branches.

“All those functioning in the aforementioned parks are advised to stay away, as any resistance will be lawfully dealt with,” he added.

He further disclosed that council staff would henceforth be dispatched to all the branches to ensure that revenue due to the council was collected without resistance.

Hon. Tata urged the people of the area to go about their daily businesses, assuring that the security agencies were fully on ground to secure lives and property of the people.
