In line with Governor Obaseki’s mandate to improve the quality services of employees in Edo State, the John Odigie Oyegun Public Service Academy (JOOPSA) has trained 1000 public and civil servants in project management, conflicts resolution, negotiation, policy development, and collaboration for leaders in the March training edition.

The training was held at the John Odigie Oyegun Public Service Academy (JOOPSA) complex, in Benin City.

Declaring the JOOPSA March editions opened, Head of Service, Anthony Okungbowa said the state government is committed to human capital development and digitalization of public service through training and re-training of staff to strengthen the transformation of the public service delivery.

Precious Imuwahen Ajoonu, managing director of JOOPSA, said that the training was based on Governor Obaseki’s commitment to up-skill Edo State Government’s public service in the areas of leadership, management, technical, and information technology skills in the delivery world’s best standard practice.

Ajoonu further stated that the JOOPSA is anchored on four pillars of human capital development – training, research, consultancy, and education. As Edo State Government aims to be in the league of the best international and innovative centre of excellence in learning and development and the first choice learning and development institute in Africa.

In addition, Ajoonu, said that they are more trainings to come and the state government will continue to promote the culture of innovative learning and re-learning to support the ministries, departments and agencies’ goals and aspirations.

The training had in attendance all the permanent secretaries, directors, and some staff of selected ministries, departments and agencies of Edo State Government as well as JOOPSA international and local training and partners including the Project Management Institute of Nigeria and others.
