About six persons have been reportedly killed by rainstorm at Oko in Oshimili South Local Government Area of Delta State. The Delta State commissioner for information, Charles Aniagwu, gave the hint while briefing journalists in Asaba.

He said the heavy rainstorm which started yesterday at about 6pm killed six persons in the affected area.

The information boss added that one person was injured while five others were referred to the Asaba Specialists Hospital (ASH) for proper treatment.

Aniagwu further said a 10-year-old boy in Okpanam community who was coming back from church fell into a drainage filled with water unknowingly.

Okpanam is the headquarters of Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State.

He said that the Secretary to the State Government, Patrick Ukah, who is from the Okpanam community, swung into the scene with the community youths in search of the boy.

As at the time of filing this report, the said boy was yet to be found.

In the same vein, at Udu Local Government Area of Delta State, a truck loaded with fuel fell on top of the bridge.

Aniagwu said that the state government has contacted the security agencies to secure the truck from hoodlums and that effort has been made by the state government on how to evacuate the fuel in the truck.
