The Edo State Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Dankwara, has ordered special surveillance around worship centres, parks, highways and other vulnerable places to ensure hitch free 2023 Eidel-Fitri celebrations in the state.

The Public Relations Officer, Edo State Police Command, SP Chidi Nwabuzor disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists in Benin City.

The statement revealed that CP Dankwara also assured the public adequate security of lives and property during and after the celebration.

The police boss while deploying men and officers to Benin Central Mosque charged them to ensure in-depth security checks and patrol of all public spaces and essential government assets.

“The CP made this declaration today, Thursday, 20th April, 2023, at the Police State Headquarters Benin City, while addressing the officers and men, during deployments of officers to Benin Central Mosque and all other places of worship across the state.

“Owing to the prevalent security situation in some parts of the State, members of the public are enjoined to be observant and report any suspicious movement, distress or breach of public peace to the nearest police station or through phone call to the police command control telephone numbers 08077773721, 08123827225, and 08056776365”, the statement stated in parts.
