Suspected terrorists have launched bloody attack on some communities in Niger State, killing an assistant commander of vigilante group, Mallam Adamu Isa Kwata.

Apart from the attack on New Bussa, Borgu local government area of the state, that claimed the life of Kwata, another member of the local vigilante group simply identified as Ishaya was murdered in the terrorists’ invasion of Ibbi Forest.

Two other persons have been declared missing after the exchange of fire between the terrorists and civilian security men. The terrorists overpowered the vigilantes in the gun duel, sources in the community said.

Niger State has been a hot bed for bandit attacks that have claimed lives and unquantified value of property, with many displaced from their homes.

The terrorists reportedly invaded the Ibbi community in Mashegun local government area, a border community with Borgu local government area, and abducted two policemen and about eight civilians. Their whereabouts was not yet known as the time of filing this report.

Some villagers in the community said the terrorists also suffered casualties, with various sources saying some of the bandits died in the process, as others ran away with gun wounds.
