The Director of Field Publicity Officers of the Delta State Ministry of Information, Mr. Charles Ofuani, has tasked officers on the need to be committed to their duties.

Ofuani made the call during a meeting with officers in the Delta North senatorial district at Asaba.

According Ofuani, “I expect you to be hard working, there should be no room for lagging behind. For this department to stand, everyone of you must be up and doing. No officer should have any reason to be unproductive.

“Your job is not limited to writing stories. Take advantage of reaching out to institutions, influential people, traditional rulers, community heads among others. Make your selves relevant.

“The base of the ministry is the grassroots, hence you must ensure that happenings in your various localities are made known to the headquarters he stated.

Speaking further, he said, “As public enlightenment officers, you should enlighten the people about government programmes and policies.

“The place of giving feedback cannot be overemphasized because it helps us to advise the government on the kind of projects to site in the various communities,” he added.

Also speaking, the Director planning, Research and Statistics (DPRS), Mr. Nduka Akozor noted that the ministry was working out modalities to make field officers to effectively discharge their duties.

He advocated that the ministry should work towards creating a synergy between local government information officers and state information officers in order to enhance a healthy working environment between them.
