The Education Authority in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State has commenced the reassignment of all assistant headteachers of primary schools to the classroom to teach.

The Secretary of Local Education Authority in Udu, Hon. Ebenezer Eki Afuevure, made this known in a chat with newsmen at Udu.

Afuevure stated that the reassignment of the affected teachers became necessary for effective teaching in the primary schools in the locality, adding that some teachers were also redeployed from some overstaffed schools to schools with barely enough teachers to teach the pupils.

He said that it was discovered that some classrooms in the public primary schools were without teachers while the staff rooms were brimming with teachers who claimed to be solely assistants to the headmasters or headmistresses who did not teach.

Afuevure said he had a meeting with the headteachers of the schools where the decision to reassign the affected teachers was reached.

He added that every decision to strengthen the foundation of primary education was worthwhile, considering that it is the bedrock of the education of the pupils who are the future leaders.
