The Edo State Government has received commendation from Ogun State for its tremendous progress in digitizing the Edo State procurement system.
The commendation was given during a courtesy visit to the Edo State Head of Service, Anthony Okungbowa Esq., at the Government House by delegates of Ogun State Bureau of Public Procurement Agency, in company of the Managing Director, Edo State Public Procurement Agency, Mr Henry Idogun. The Ogun delegates were in the state on a four-day tour to understudy the Edo State E-Procurement system.
Addressing the delegation, the Edo State Head of Service said that government has put in place mechanisms to ensure the transformation of the civil service so that every worker is adequately equipped to deliver optimally on their assigned duties and to effectively contribute to the growth and development of the state.
He told the visiting delegates that the governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, sees the civil/public service as the engine of government and has put every machinery in place to ensure its growth and development.
“Mr. Governor has always described the Civil/Public Service as the engine of government and has put the needed machinery in place to make sure it is constantly strengthened for government to be effective,” Okungbowa said.
Reassuring of government’s commitment to workers’ welfare in the state, the HOS noted that the e-procurement is one of the measures put in place to ensure that the productive sector is adequately impacted with result-oriented policies to guarantee better livelihood for the people of the state.
He highlighted other reforms in the state public sector to include the e-governance which, according to him, has helped the government to ensure effective service delivery and the accompanying modern work ethics; establishment of the John Odigie Oyegun Public Service Academy which has helped in building intellectual property resources; regular payment of salaries, up-to-date promotion, and the recently approved 13th-month salary for Edo workers by the governor.
On his part, the Director General, Ogun State Bureau of Public Procurement, Dr. Adesina Olaloye, commended the Edo State Government for the transformation in the civil/public service and the digitization of the procurement system which they came to understudy. He also hailed Governor Obaseki for his developmental strides across all sectors in the state.
