Bendel Insurance Football Club of Benin on Wednesday evening defeated Ahudiya FC of Abia state 1-0, just as their Feeders bundle out Nigeria National League (NNL) team Osun Utd after a 2-1 win in Lagos to progress to the round of 16 of the 2023 Federation Cup.

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Group A Leaders, Insurance FC, had to dig deep to beat Ahudiya FC.

Sarki Ismael scored the only goal of the match played at the UJ Esuene Stadium, Calabar, in the 72nd minute after picking a pass from Imade Osarenkhoe who already executed the task, making it easy for the goal scorer to put the ball into an empty net.

Bendel Insurance FC similarly beat ABS FC of Kwara 1-0 in Lagos in the round of 64 to set up the round of 32 game with Ahudiya FC who pip Jigawa Golden Stars 1-0.

While the senior team of Bendel Insurance battle hard to win in Calabar, their junior brothers Insurance Feeders had an easy ride over NNL side Osun Utd in Lagos after a 2-1 victory to also qualify for the round of 16.

Insurance Feeders came from behind to upset Osun Utd after their wizkid strikers Efe Aghama and Godstime Alakwe, scored in the 36 and 73 minutes respectively to help their team triumphed against all expectations. Osun Utd had scored in the 6th minute to unsettle the junior Insurance FC.

Insurance Feeders began the Federation Cup campaigns with a 2-0 win over Smart City Feeders in the playoff in Ilorin and went ahead to beat Maikunkele FC of Niger state 4-0 in the round of 64 to reach the round of 32.

Insurance Feeders have surpassed their last year’s record with the 2-1 victory over Osun Utd. They could not go beyond the round of 32 in 2022.
