Nigeria’s Flying Eagles on Thursday arrived in Mendoza, Argentina, the venue of their first two group stage matches, ahead of their opening game against the Dominican Republic at the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup.

As confirmed by the Nigerian Football Federation’s social media handle, Coach Ladan Bosso’s side arrived at Mendoza after spending the last 10 days in Buenos Aires, Argentina’s capital, for camping activities.

Recall that Nigeria’s Flying Eagles have played two friendly games in Argentina ahead of the FIFA U-20 World Cup. Ladan Bosso’s boys defeated the Almirante Brown 3-2 last week Friday, then a 3-3 draw against Colombia on Tuesday.

The Flying Eagles have been grouped alongside five-time champions, Brazil, Italy, and debutant Dominican Republic in Group D.

The two-time finalists will start their campaign at the World Cup against the Dominican Republic at the Estadio Malvinas Argentinas, Mendoza on Sunday, May 21.

The Flying Eagles’ second Group D game against the Italians will also hold at the Estadio Malvinas Argentinas, Mendoza on Wednesday, May 24.

Nigeria’s last group game against Brazil will be played at Estadio Único Diego Armando Maradona, La Plata on Saturday, May 27.

This is Flying Eagles’ 13th appearance in the tournament, and have been 2 times runners-up, in 1989 and 2005.

The 2023 U-20 World Cup will run from May 20 to June 11.
